Speaking at CA World - Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas

image

CA Technologies invited me out to Las Vegas to speak at the CA World Conference at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

I spoke about integrating PKI and Single Sign On technologies to enable a more secure solution for application authentication. It was a great session and I met a lot great people from organizations that are facing the exact same challenges. In addition to a great seassion, I got to shake hands and exchange a few words with Richard Branson from Virgin on the morning of my speaking engagement. Combine that with running into Pete Rose (I somehow run into this guy every time I go to Vagas)in the hallway and catching Goo Goo Dolls in concert that night, it made for a pretty amazing time.

How the Bureau of Public Debt is shining in a tough time

While I was speaking alongside some fantastic CIOs from Commerce and Transportation, CTO Vision blogged some of my comments and put together a really nice article.

The BPD flies under the radar providing some truly essential services to our government At the 2-3 May 2012 HP Software Government Summit, Joe Gribble of the Department of Treasury Bureau of Public Debt brought up some really amazing success stories of how they are following executive directives and transforming their IT business processes. The Bureau of Public Debt is combining forces with the Department’s Financial Management Services division to provide IT services jointly to both units. This move is helping comply with data center consolidation directives (moving from five to two). Additionally, this is providing an expected savings of $120M over five years.

Speaking at the Government Software Summit

I was invited to speak at the Government Software Summit in Washington DC where I was on a panel with CIOs from Transportation and Commerce. This was probably one of the coolest things that I have done as far as speaking.

On the summit’s first day, NASA CIO Linda Cureton will discuss how CIOs and their teams should take advantage of new efficiencies and modern platforms.
The next day, GSA CIO Casey Coleman will describe her agency’s evolution regarding information technology.
Crucial Point CEO Bob Gourley will moderate a panel featuring Commerce Department CIO Simon Szykman, Transportation Department CIO Tim Schmidt and Joe Gribble from the Bureau of Public Debt.
